About Gerri

I have recent and significant experience as a local authority senior manager and SEND strategic lead. I have played a lead role in SEND local area inspection and interim visits, leading on the successful implementation of joint SEND strategy, improvement planning and review.

My expertise lies in SEND quality assurance processes in a local authority context including the auditing of EHCPs and the quality of local area specialist provision. I love developing all aspects of SEND work, co-producing in partnership with children and young people with SEND and their families.

I have over thirty years experience in the field of education, initially as a primary school teacher and school leader, then as a specialist SEN advisor and strategic lead within local authorities in the south of England. In that time I have delivered many training courses to school settings and local authority teams.

I hold qualified teacher status, enhanced DBS and have post graduate qualifications in the field of language and literacy acquisition and complex communication needs. I also hold an advanced diploma in leadership and management and was awarded ‘Manager of the Year’ in the Dorset Council Pride Awards in 2012.

I have recently completed the NDTi SEND Leadership Programme and I am an active governor for a local infant school, overseeing SEND and vulnerable groups.
